National CPR and AED Awareness Week: Be a Lifesaver

National CPR and AED Awareness Week, observed from June 1-7, is a crucial time to highlight the importance of these lifesaving skills. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) can significantly increase the chances of survival during cardiac emergencies. According to the American Heart Association, immediate CPR can double or even triple a person’s chances of survival after cardiac arrest. Despite this, only about 46% of people who experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital receive the immediate help that they need before professional help arrives. By learning CPR and how to use an AED, you can be prepared to act quickly and effectively in emergencies.

At Chappelle Pharmacy, we encourage everyone to get trained in CPR and AED use. These skills are not just for healthcare professionals; anyone can learn them and potentially save a life. Many local organizations offer training sessions, and there are also online resources available. Remember, in the critical moments following a cardiac arrest, your knowledge and action can make all the difference. Join us this National CPR and AED Awareness Week in raising awareness, getting trained, and empowering yourself to be a lifesaver.
